What do Extreme Sports Bring to Your Life?

The answer to that question is simple – When you are closest to death, but still maintaining control, you are truly living to the absolute. With Extreme Sports you are living to the fullest, breathing in life in the face of death, the paradox of human existence. One without the other is impossible, and together, life is given meaning and urgency.Β Β

It’s those moments of the sweet adrenaline rush combined with the enhancement of the endorphins in your body. It’s the electrifying experience of defying the danger and to master it,Β  and by expanding your comfort zone to new depths by experiencing and overcoming the extreme fear.

FeelΒ More Empowered Than Ever Before

Something else? You’ll feel more empowered than ever before. The skills and experiences you have are things most people dare to dream about doing, much less actually experience them.

β€œI’ve never felt so alive than when I am in the free fall, a second or less away from facing certain death if the smallest thing should go wrong. During those moments, everything is crystal clear: my mind is tuned to every detail, with an overwhelming sense of joy and peace embraces me.”

This echoes the thoughts and emotions that extreme sport athletes continue to reflect on. Regardless of who they are or where they are from or any other individual characteristics, time and time again they meld into one. For a moment, they are one.Β

Experiencing the same incredible thrill, the moments of pure ecstasy while soaring through the sky or speeding across the surface of the water or anything else: its those moments of power and life that connect people, and them together, yet set them apart from the rest.Β

Most skydiving, wingsuit flyers, bungee jumpers and others fear very little in life. The excitement is more important, and they calculate the risks and take precautions to the highest standard. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that they all choose to risk their lives. Most would recommend staying away from extreme sports like these, unless you have an appetite for danger, the unknown, risk and reward, as there is never a guarantee that a ride or jump will go well.Β

But then does life ever come with guarantees?

Why risk it at all? What could these activities possibly bring to your life that is work the risk of dying?

Throughout history and pre-history, humans have always been drawn to exploring and diving into the unknown.

Β In 1903, it was the Wright Brothers who interest in sports was in the form of bicycles, and had a fantastical, impossible, extreme dream of flying people throughout the air in machines that could fly. What could be more crazy than that?Β

119 years later, over a billion people fly everywhere in the world every year.Β

After the airplane, there was once an extreme thought to take humans to outer space and travel to the moon, stepping for the first time onto another planet. 66 years after the airplane was invented, one small step for man, a giant leap for mankind, took place.Β

Each Sport Sees New Adventurers On A Journey Into The Unknown

It is this innate curiosity that sometimes can cost us our lives, that we cannot stay too far away from. Whether it’s creating inventions that seem completely impossible like airplanes and rocket ships to highlining, solo climbing or Xmoto that makes us as a whole constantly reach for a higher and higher level.Β

Each sport sees innovation, records broken, and new adventurers on their own journey into the unknown. These extremes are only for the extreme, those people that have a different mind from the rest. The higher the risk, the higher the reward, they say. And to these adventure seekers, that line is one they live by.Β

We are social creatures, for sure. We’re usually the most happy, most others like us – birds of a feather and all that. The social connection, understanding and community at a skydiving drop zone – even with people you’ve never met before that day – is something people coming back to after their first or 50th skydive. They say that to connect with people they’ve never met before, and most likely won’t meet again, is one of togetherness that is often not experienced in other forms of human life.Β

So, what do you really gain after taking the plunge, or the dive, or the first ride?Β

I have become much more confident, self-assured, knowledgeable of myself and more competent.

I have dared to do things I never thought realistic, and I have become much more ambitious and social as well.Β

I have lost all traces of fear of heights and become much more confident to try things I have never done before.

These and countless others are the responses people within this world will give. But one stands out among the rest: Β I have found my own tribe.

So, what do extreme sports bring to your life?

The feeling of being alive itself.
